1. Who we are
Muslims ACT is a free community information app for Canberra and the Australian Capital Territory. It is developed and operated as a SudoLabs community project.

2. Our privacy approach
MACT does not sell personal information, does not show third-party advertising, and does not use personal information to track you across other companies' apps or websites.
3. Information you choose to submit
MACT includes community submission features such as reporting incorrect information, reporting a problem and suggesting an event or other community information. When you use one of these features, the information you provide is sent from your device and stored so it can be reviewed.
Depending on the form and what you choose to provide, a submission may include:
- your name;
- an email address or phone number;
- your preferred contact method;
- a message, report, correction or other free-form text;
- event, place or community information you submit; and
- technical identifiers that link the submission to the relevant place, event or section of MACT.
Contact details are optional unless a particular form clearly states otherwise. If you provide contact information, it may be used to follow up about the submission, clarify information, respond to you, or administer the submission.
4. Location information
If you grant location permission, MACT can use your device location to centre the map, calculate distances and help show nearby halal food, prayer places and community locations.
MACT does not store your precise device location in the MACT submissions database and does not create a history of the places you visit. Location used for nearby features is processed on your device for those features.
Map and network services may receive ordinary network request information, such as an IP address and the map area required to provide map content, as part of delivering those resources. Their handling of that information is governed by their own service terms and privacy practices.
You can deny or later revoke location permission in your iOS or Android device settings. MACT can still be used without location permission, although nearby and map-centering features may be limited.
5. Information that stays on your device
MACT uses local device storage for features such as saved places, bookmarks, cached app content and certain preferences. This information is not intentionally uploaded to MACT solely because you save or browse it.
Search terms, filter choices and normal browsing activity are not used by MACT to build an advertising profile about you.
6. How submitted information is used
Information submitted to MACT may be used to:
- review reports, corrections and suggestions;
- verify or improve food, prayer and community information;
- review suggested events and announcements;
- respond to the person who made a submission where contact details were provided;
- protect the service from misuse, spam or security incidents; and
- maintain appropriate administrative records relating to community submissions.
We do not use submitted personal information for targeted advertising or cross-app tracking.
7. Service providers and third parties
MACT relies on service providers to operate the app. These may include infrastructure used for database hosting, secure network requests, app delivery and updates, and map content. For example, MACT uses Supabase for backend database services and Expo services as part of app build, delivery and update infrastructure.
These providers may process information necessary to provide their services, including technical network information. We use service providers for operating MACT, not for selling personal information or serving behavioural advertising.
MACT may also open external services when you choose actions such as directions, phone calls or websites. Once you leave MACT or open another app or website, that third party's privacy policy applies.
8. Data sharing
We do not sell or rent personal information. Submitted information may be accessible to authorised MACT/SudoLabs administrators and to service providers that process data on our behalf as necessary to operate the service.
We may disclose information where reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law, respond to a lawful request, protect users or the public, investigate misuse, or protect the security and integrity of MACT.
9. Data retention and deletion
Community submissions may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to review the submission, respond where appropriate, maintain accurate community information, address misuse or security issues, and meet legitimate recordkeeping or legal requirements.
If you provided personal information in a submission and would like it deleted, contact sudolabs@outlook.com.au. Please provide enough information for us to identify the relevant submission. We may need to verify the request before deleting information.
Local information stored only on your device can generally be removed by clearing app data, removing saved items where the feature allows, or uninstalling MACT.
10. Security
MACT uses reasonable technical and organisational measures intended to protect information handled by the service. Network communications to backend services use encrypted connections where supported. Access to administrative functions is restricted.
No method of electronic storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Children and young users
MACT is a general community information service and does not require an account to browse. We do not intentionally ask children to provide personal information for advertising or profiling. If you believe a child has submitted personal information that should be removed, contact us and we will review the request.
12. Your choices
You can:
- use MACT without creating an account;
- decline location permission or revoke it through device settings;
- choose whether to provide optional contact details with a submission;
- avoid submitting free-form information you do not want stored; and
- contact us to request access, correction or deletion of personal information you previously submitted.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when MACT's features, service providers or data practices change. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated when material changes are published.
